Viva Tysons! Magazine is THE magazine of Tysons Corner. We celebrate the Tysons locale of McLean, Vienna, Great Falls, Oakton and Western Falls Church. We publish our glossy full color publication six times a year.
So how did all this come about? A few years ago, Johnny Hanna developed a web site for his restaurant clients called UrbanBites.com (the makeover will be launched very soon) to provide a web presence for those who didn't have the time or the knowledge. Next was a local web portal ViennaVirginia.com, a directory of merchants and service providers along with community information, events calendar and more. A two page coffee paper was started to point people to the web site. Two turned to four which became a small newspaper, and then a magazine. That was back at the end of 2008. This pickle salesman had something going, he just didn't know what. One of his clients was Tysons Bagel Market. Dennis Alloy sold the place at the end of 2001, and after a run in the construction business, he was looking for the next venture. Little did he know where he would end up. Johnny finally convinced him, the magazine started growing, people started raving and here we are today with nearly a hundred pages. It is amazing what a pickle salesman and a bagel baker can do when they put their heads together. Somehow we're getting it right. It's at least respectable if not professional, but that's what gives it a hometown feel. We are learning as we go, not forgetting what we originally set out to be: a celebration of our local independent merchants, service providers, and professionals. We want to illuminate what is pertinent, interesting and entertaining about our area... and there's a lot out there to present to you. It's fun, interesting and always enlightening. We love our area, we love promoting it, and we hope you do to. Tysons Corner encompasses a group of wonderful communities that deserves celebrating. We hope you enjoy our efforts, please support us by mentioning to our advertisers where you saw them (and ask those you don't see in the magazine why they're not).Let us know who is doing a good job, who has something new, who is moving, expanding or even closing... our readers want to know. By the way, you can now guarantee getting Viva Tysons! in your mailbox with a subscription. Thank you to Badia, Kathy, Andrea, Michelle, and all those that have helped us in out along the way... it's improving all the time! We appreciate you checking the site out. We'll see you around town.
